¿necesito saber como guardar varios checkbox en codigo php y como ingresarlos en la base de mysql?

tengo una pagina web se trata de llenar registros de personas para un consultorio pero necesito saber como hacerle para que yo al seleccionar los checkbox se visualizen y se guarden en mi base de datos de mysql
por ejemplo si tengo que seleccionar 2 o 3 enfermedades y esas 2 se guarden en una base de datos y cuando yo quiera consultar esa informacion se vea en mi pagina
